Technology Overview
Our Load Balancing Technology:
Load balancing solutions are becoming very affordable for any size company. The new type of high speed internet lines (DSL and Cable) are not only less expensive but also provide high speed access. A load balancer can connect simultaneously the new lines and old ones (such as T1) providing bandwidth aggregation and internet fail over. These two key aspects result in increased efficiency and effectiveness.
Inbound Load Balancing - Giving access to your clients on all your lines:
While accessing the internet on several lines is a sophisticated operation (we refer to this as outbound load balancing), our load balancers can also balance incoming traffic. Companies with internal servers accessible from the open internet (by workers or clients) use our load balancer to guide the incoming traffic on the best available line. This is accomplished by making the load balancer the parent DNS server for the company domain. Any internet query to resolve the IP for a host/server related to the domain (for instance the query to find the IP for "ftp://ftp.company.com/") comes to the load balancer, which based on its measurement of the amount of incoming bandwidth available, decides which of the several IP s(lines) is better to receive the incoming traffic.
